BRS president and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) has expressed full confidence that he will win more than 100 MLAs in the coming November/December elections to Telangana Assembly. KCR addressed BRS plenary meeting at Telangana Bhavan in Hyderabad on April 27, Thursday. “Coming back to power is not an issue for us,” he told the party plenary.
KCR said TRS, previous name of BRS, won 63 MLAs in 2014 elections, immediately after formation of Telangana and 88 MLAs in 2018. He predicted this time the tally would go up by another 12 more seats in a House of 119 MLAs. Going by his words, it looks, the entire opposition, excluding AIMIM which is a sort of ally to KCR with 7 MLAs, can’t cross 12 seats together.
At the same time, KCR stressed on the need to see that there is no dissatisfaction among the party cadre and lower run leaders. He put the responsibility of keeping the cadre in order on the senior leaders who also enjoy government nominated posts. He told ministers and MLAs to mingle with people with programmes like “Palle Nidra” (Night stays in villages).
The achievements of his government iin Telangana in the last 9 years would b the poll agenda for the next elections. KCR, explaining his recent visits to Maharashtra where he addressed BRS meetings, compared to Telangana, he said: “The per capita income of Telangana stood at Rs 3 lakh plus much more than that of national average”.
Unite People against BJP
Thrust of KCR’s speech is more on removing BJP which is in power at the Centre, not just facing its threat in the assembly elections.”BJP has done more harm to the country by dividing people on communal lines which is not good for anyone. Unless we take steps to stop them, India may go back by 100years”’ said KCR.
This is the first plenary after TRS changed its name to BRS on October 9, last year. As KCR planned to hold another meeting in October on a big scale, this event is limited to just 280 delegates – ministers, MPs, MLAs, MLCs and other district level functionaries and party state executive members.
After unfurling the party flag, the CM commenced the proceedings. BRS working president and minister KT Rama Rao (KTR) introduced resolutions. The resolution called for change of political system in the country under the leadership of KCR. “It is not just the winning of political parties, but the winning of people, should our motto,” said the resolution.
