Andhra Pradesh IT and Education Minister Nara Lokesh has said that the state will emerge as the 1 trillion US dollars economy in next 10 years. For this Chandrababu Naidu led NDA government has identified some key sectors which can make help this goal. This way, Andhra will be one of the top three states in India which would cross 1 trillion US dollars GSDP (Gross State Domestic Produce).
Lokesh was addressing at the US India Strategic Leadership Forum summit in New Delhi on October 14, Monday. Lokesh, son of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is also a national general secretary of ruling TDP. Lokesh served in the Naidu Cabinet before 2019. He has been entrusted with the responsibility of wooing IT and electronic businesses in Andhra Pradesh.
At a fireside chat in the leadership forum summit, Lokesh focused on three to four key priorities of the Naidu led AP government. They are: Improving rural and urban people through government initiatives, encouraging public-private partnership, encouraging startup ecosystem and wooing large scale industrial investments in AP so as to create around 20 lakh jobs for youth. Apple India managing director Virat Bhatia engaged Lokesh in the chat.
US India Strategic Partnership Leadership Forum founder Johan T Chambers presided over the summit. Chambers who earlier led Cisco to runaway success as its CEO predicted a bright future for India in the coming years. He expressed happiness over the pro-business environment in the country and felt that a healthy competition among states to grow fast would benefit one and all.
Speed of Doing Business
Lokesh outlined various steps taken by the Naidu government to encourage investments in AP. One of them is to ensure speed of doing business policy. A special economic development board has been revived to expedite clearances to new projects. A Whatsapp group has been formed to inform the investors about the new policies and projects of the AP government.
Lokesh said that the government had taken up a skill census to equip the youth for the upcoming employment opportunities in the state. Perhaps Andhra may be the first state to take a skill census of the youth. Lokesh told the gathering at the summit that the government has been providing 100 types of public services to people through mobile phones, said a press release.
