BRS Rajya Sabha MP J Santosh Kumar gave a good beginning to 2024, by planting a sapling at Bajjara Hills Parlk in Hyderabad on January 1, Monday. Santosh, founder activists of Green India Challenge (GIC) six and a half years ago, took part in the event, giving a green push to the new year celebrations.  In fact, Santosh makes it a point to celebrate every occasion by planting trees.

This has become the sum and substance of GIC in which hundreds of celebrities and thousands of commoners mostly youth joined by spreading the cause of greenery.  Speaking on the occasion, Santosh  said that he was committed to the cause of environment and increasing green cover. His GIC will continue its efforts in future too involving larger public join this green push.

He emphasized the need for everyone to plant saplings on various occasions, including birthdays, to contribute towards a greener and healthier environment, according to a press release from GIC.

The co-founder of the Green India Challenge, Karunakar, Raghava and   other members were present during the sapling planting program. The chosen saplings,banian, Ravii , silver oak, are known for their fast growth and ability to provide shade and shelter to various species of birds and animals.

The Green India Challenge has gained significant momentum since its inception and has seen the participation of several celebrities, politicians, and general public across the country. It aims to create an eco-friendly and sustainable environment for future generations.
