Prof R Limbadri, currently officiating chairman of Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) has been appointed as regular Chairman for a period of three years from now. The State government issued orders to this on June 26, Monday. Prof Limbadri has been holding officiating Chairman for over nine months since September 2022.
Prof Limbadri has been appointed TSCHE as Vice-Chairman in August 2017. Before that he served as registrar of Telangana University (TU) twice – from 2013-14 and 2014-16. Coming from a humble family background, he hails from Ravutla village, Sirikonda mandal of Nizambad disitrict in Telangana. Limbadri joined Osmania University’s Public Administration department as faculty in 1991 and rose to Professor post subsequently.
Credited for DOST success
While at TU, he was associated with DOST (Degree Online Services Telangana), an online admissions system for degree colleges in 2016-17. After joining TSCHE as Vice Chairman, he has been the in charge of DOST. Prof Limbadri is credited with making DOST a smooth admissions process in Telangana for the last seven years. Today, DOST is a model for digital educational services at the national level.
Prof Limbadri also took several initiatives in the last several years at TSCHE. Important among them are, introduction of several courses in emerging fields like BSc computer sciences, data analytics, biotechnology (4 years), BA Hons of 4 years in economics and political science. “I think, our move to introduce skill development courses in association with Sector Skill Council of India, where students get enough industry exposure is important,” Prof Limbadri told Excel India.
Increasing gross enrollment ratio (GER) in Telangana to 39.1 compared to 27.3 of national average, establishing more number of higher education institutions, taking Telangana’s rank to No 2 in India are some other initiatives TSCHE taken during his stint as Vice Chairman and officiating chairman.
After Prof Limbadri’s appointment orders were issued by Education Secretary V Karuna, IAS, many people from education field congratulated him. Prof Limbadri thanked Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and all others for reposing confidence and giving him the opportunity lead TSCHE.
SK Mahamood, Vice-Chairman
Osmania University retired Botany professor Dr SK Mohamood has been appointed as Vice Chairman of TSCHE, for a period of three years, as per orders issued by Education Secretary Karuna, IAS, Monday. With this, TSCHE will have two Vice Chairmen – along with Por Venkata Ramana, a full strength.
Prof Limbadri deserves the post. In fact, long over due.
