Palamuru University (PU), Telangana, will be bidding to host a prestigious international scientific conference, Exercise Medicine, in July- August, 2023. For the purpose, varsity Vice Chancellor Prof LB Lakshmikanth Rathod is now attending 5th meeting of International Scientific Committee on Exercise Medicine in Malaysia from October 3-5.
Speaking to Excel India on October 3, Monday, Prof Rathod said: “We are trying to get this major scientific Exercise Medicine conference for three days in July or August next year. If we get it, the meet will be held in both PU campus, Mahabubnagar and Hyderabad. Around 200 delegates from all over the world will attend it. If he succeeds, India will be the host country.
The conference with focus on physical education and training deals with various aspects of exercise as a medicine for several bodily injuries and other ailments. Scientific committee chairman Dato Sri DrLessy Lai addressed the first day session, while Director of health, Ministry of Health Malaysia Puan Suraiya Binti Syed Mohammed officially opened the five day meet
Exercise is Medicine is an initiative to encourage physical activity through physical education on campuses of education institutions and elsewhere. Besides improving overall health of individuals, exercise is useful as medicine for certain health issues, including healing some injuries. In general it promotes physical fitness as a part of modern lifestyle for youth.
Another Intl meet in November:
Meanwhile, PU is hosting another major International conference on Recent Advances in Physical Education, Fitness and Sports Sciences – 2022, at Mahabubnagar, on November 12 and 13. Department of Physical Education, PU is hosting this meet. in association with International Federation of Physical Education, Fitness & Sports Sciences Association, India.
VC Prof Rathod, Prof K Girija Mangatayaru, registrar of PU, Dr Rajesh Kumar, professor of physical education department and several other experts will participate in the meet. Prof Rathod, from the department of physical education, is the only VC from his background to head a general university in India. “This conference will help discuss many current issues pertaining t o physical education and fitness,” said Prof Rathod.
