Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar has demanded a CBI probe into charges of the world famous TTD  (Tirumala Tirutapti Devasthnams) using animal fate in making Laddu prasadams. In a letter to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on September 20, the senior BJP leader asked that those who were responsible for this grieve mischief should not be spared.

The matter got a nation wide flare up in view of a recent report from Gujarat based National Diary Development Board *NDDB) Calf (Centre for Analysis and Learning in Livestock & Food) Limited to this extent. The report expressed doubts over the usage of animal fat and fats other than cow milk in making TTD Laddus. CM Chandrababu Naidu on September 18 raised concerns over the issue and ordered for a report from TTD officials.

As this controversy directly hit the sentiments of Hindus worldwide and the devotees of Lord Venkateswara, protests erupted all over seeking action against those responsible for it. Doubts pointed to possible involvement of certain higher ups including then TTD chairman YV Subba Reddy and even former CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. However, Jagan rejected such doubts and alleged that CM Naidu was using this issue to defame him and his party.

Shocking findings”

Union minister Sanjay in his letter expressed anguish over the report’s and said that they were shocking findings, burting the sentiments of Hindus all over the world.  If the TDD officials had deliberately permitted usage of animal and fish fat in making of Laddu and other prasadams of the Lord, it would be a serious crime that needs to be dealt with equal seriousness.

“If what you (CM Naidu) said was right, this is nothing short of attack on the sentiments of Hindus and should be treated as a concerted effort to desecrate the sanctity of Tirumala temple, a popular pilgrimage for crores of people. Sanjay said that there were charges earlier that then YCP government allowed activities of non-Hindus on Tirumala hills and surroundings.
