Rama Krishna Sangem
TRS chief and Telangana CM KCR will soon mobilise all regional parties which are either in power or in main opposition in the country to create a non-BJP and of course, non-Congress political alternative at the national level. He has already started talking and writing letters to the party leaders to forge consensus among them soon.
KCR’s media conference on February 1 after the presentation of Union Budget has given us enough hints he is keen on playing a role at the national level while doing justice to his role in the state as the Chief Minister. Earlier, several CMs like NTR, Karunanidhi, Jyoti Basu, Farooq Abdullah, Mamata Banerjee, among others played similar role at the national level.
KCR’s activity will be agenda based one, forming a larger platform for regional parties so that they can fight for their federal rights as enshrined in the Constitution. His words for a new constitution don’t mean that replacing the present one, but it’s an argument for drastic changes in it to strengthen federal features.
Till now there were some doubts on BJP losing UP assembly which is the main pillar for PM Modi’s political future in 2024. But, now political mood is that BJP may be the winner, although with smaller majority in the 405 seats of the assembly. That is the reason why KCR rejected suggestion that these five state assembly polls were not “semi-finals” before the next Lok Sabha elections.
Even if BJP wins UP, the efforts for bribing regional parties onto a platform will not stop. A major reason for this is the multicolored political map of the country, where at least 10 big states are in the hands of non-BJP parties and these leaders would definitely fight to retain their power in the coming months. This political diversity is enough to take forward KCR’s plans.
